A Châteauguay exterminator costs $399 for carpenter ants and insects, $409 for mice, and $429 for bed bugs. That is a unit up to a 4 ½. A house costs more because there is a basement, a garage and an exterior to treat. The full list is published below, so you do not have to book a visit to find out.
We are Local Extermination. 14 years around Montreal, 9,000 clients, 6 licensed technicians. Mice, rats and insects: that is all we do, and it is why we are quick at it.

In Châteauguay the Water Is Never Far
The Châteauguay River runs through the city into Lac Saint-Louis, and Île Saint-Bernard holds a protected marsh inside the municipal boundary. Many streets are a few hundred metres from a bank, and the water table is high.
For us it comes down to one thing: exterior wood dries badly. A balcony beam, a patio door frame or the bottom of a shed wall that would stay dry elsewhere stays damp here, and damp wood is exactly what a carpenter ant wants to hollow out. That is why ants lead our calls in Châteauguay, ahead of mice.
The same water explains the rest: damp basements that draw silverfish, centipedes and spiders, and riverbanks that give rats sheltered runs from one sector to the next.
Carpenter Ants
A carpenter ant exterminator is not chasing ants, they are looking for water. The ants do not eat wood, they hollow it out to nest in, and they need it damp.
What you notice first: large black ants indoors, fine sawdust under a windowsill, a balcony or a deck joint, and in May the swarm, winged ants all at once at the same window.
How to find the nest: follow the moisture, not the ants. Look for the sawdust first, because it always falls below the nest opening, so the small pile on the floor tells you the wall and the level. Then tap the wood around it: hollowed wood sounds hollow, and an active colony answers with a dry rustling. At dusk the workers leave in a line, and the line leads to the nest. The spots that repeat here: the balcony beam on the river side, a patio door frame, the bottom of a shed wall, and the rim joist under a deck.
What makes treatment work: treating the parent colony and the satellite nests at the same time, then drying out what draws them. Hardware-store bait kills what crosses the counter and leaves the colony intact.
Indoor treatment from $399, $399 for a bungalow. Outdoor, $129 for one visit or $327 for three, which is worth it near a bank.
Mice
Mice are the pest that fills our autumns. An exterminator for mice has one busy season here. One mouse in September is a family by January.
What you notice first: droppings along a baseboard, about the size of a grain of rice, then scratching inside a wall or above a ceiling, loudest around dusk.
Why Châteauguay: the farmland to the south and the riverside strips. A mouse fits through a gap the width of a pencil: the hardened seal at the bottom of a garage door is our number one entry point, then the dryer vent and the service entry. Houses bordering a field or a bank get their share on the first cold night.
What makes treatment work: finding the entry points, not just placing bait. Bait alone drops the population for a few weeks, then the next ones use the same hole. You get the list in writing.
From $409 for a unit, $429 for a bungalow. Perimeter work on a house is $299.
Silverfish, Centipedes and Spiders
All three follow humidity rather than food, and Châteauguay has no shortage of it.
What you notice first: silverfish in a bathroom or basement at night, centipedes crossing a floor fast, spiders in low-traffic corners.
Why Châteauguay: the water table is high and many 1960s and 1970s basements were finished over a slab that was never sealed. The storage room behind the stairs and the basement bathroom are where we find them. Near the river it runs from June to September.
What makes treatment work: the treatment removes what is there, a dehumidifier stops the return. Where these three thrive, something is wet.
All start at $399 indoors, $399 for a bungalow.
Wasps
What you notice first: steady traffic in and out of one point: a soffit, the corner of a shed, a hole in the lawn. A nest is bigger than its entrance suggests.
Why Châteauguay: calls peak in August. The soffit above the garage, the eaves over a patio door and the shed at the back come up every year, and waterside lots add their share of ground nests.
What makes treatment work: not doing it yourself. A disturbed nest defends itself, and hardware-store spray rarely reaches the inside.
One nest is $189. A full treatment covering every nest we find is $259, and each extra nest is $39.
Cockroaches, Bed Bugs and Rats
An exterminator for cockroaches treats a building, not a door: roaches move through plumbing chases and shared walls. In a detached house they arrive in cardboard and stay put. From $429 for a unit, $469 for a bungalow, $499 for a restaurant.
An exterminator for bed bugs is almost always called after an object brought them in: second-hand furniture, a suitcase, a mattress collected from a stranger. They survive months without feeding, so the second visit is not optional. From $429, rising to $549 for a 10 ½.
Rats follow water. The river and lake banks give them sheltered runs, and an excavation moves a colony into the surrounding buildings within days. They need a bigger opening than mice, so the entry points can be found and closed. From $409, perimeter control $299, and $230 for a single rat.

When Châteauguay Pests Show Up, Month by Month
- March to May. The big carpenter ant window: they swarm as the wood thaws. Wasps start their first nests.
- June to August. Wasps peak in August, and basement damp brings silverfish and centipedes.
- September to November. The first cold nights push mice indoors.
- December to February. Quiet outside, busy inside: whatever came in during autumn is breeding in a heated wall.

Questions from Châteauguay Residents
How Do I Find a Carpenter Ant Nest in My House?
Follow the moisture and the sawdust, not the ants. Sawdust always falls below the nest opening, so the small pile on the floor tells you the wall and the level. Tap the wood around it: hollowed wood sounds hollow, and an active colony answers with a dry rustling. At dusk the workers leave in a line, and the line leads to the nest. In Châteauguay, look at the balcony beam, a patio door frame and the bottom of a shed wall first.
When Should I Call an Exterminator for Carpenter Ants?
At the May swarm, without hesitating: winged ants at a window mean a colony established for two or three years. Call too if sawdust keeps reappearing in the same spot, or if you see large black ants indoors in winter, which means they are nesting in the house rather than outside it.
How Much Does Carpenter Ant Extermination Cost?
$399 indoors for a unit up to a 4 ½, and $399 for a bungalow. Outdoors, $129 for one visit or $327 for three. The inspection is included and so is follow-up inside the warranty.
Why Does My Basement Attract Silverfish and Centipedes?
Because they follow humidity rather than food, and the water table in Châteauguay is high. A basement finished in the 1970s over a slab that was never sealed holds damp all summer, and the storage room behind the stairs becomes the best habitat in the house. The treatment removes what is there; a dehumidifier stops the return.
How Do I Choose a Good Exterminator?
Licensed technicians, liability insurance, and a written warranty with the follow-up inside it rather than billed separately. Then three questions: is the price given before the visit or after the inspection? Does the quote cover the treatment or only the inspection? And what happens if it comes back?
Do You Handle Raccoons, Skunks or Squirrels?
No. We do not do wildlife removal or relocation, so no raccoons, skunks, squirrels, groundhogs, birds or bats. We treat mice, rats and insects. Near the river and the Île Saint-Bernard refuge this comes up often, and you need a licensed wildlife specialist rather than a technician who cannot help.
The prices shown are estimates for the most common cases and can change without notice. We do our best to keep them current. Your final price depends on what the technician finds on site: how far the infestation has spread, how easy the affected areas are to reach, the condition of the property, and how many visits the job needs. You always get the exact price before any work starts.
