Wasps have their own pricing, because the work is done at the nest rather than by the room. One nest is $189, a full treatment covers every nest we find for $259, and each extra nest is $39.

In Pointe-Claire What You Store in October Is What You Find in May
Pointe-Claire is a waterfront town, and you can see it in the yards: a boat under a tarp, a pontoon, patio furniture stacked up, a covered barbecue, a trailer, cushions in a deck box, and usually all of it a few metres from the house from October to May.
That is the best winter habitat a mouse could ask for, and it is the mechanism nobody explains to you.
A mouse wants three things: relative warmth, darkness, and not to be disturbed for several months. A tarped boat gives all three. The engine compartment, a bench cushion, the cover itself and the sail locker are dry, out of the wind, and nobody touches them until spring. A stack of patio furniture under a sheet does the same thing more simply.
Two practical consequences, and both save you money:
- Spring is the wrong season to discover this. You pull the tarp in May and find a nest, gnawing damage on wiring or upholstery, and a smell. By then the damage is done, and a treatment does not repair it.
- The right time to act is September, before things get put away, not after. Perimeter control done before everything is covered costs the same as it does in May and saves you the rest.
What we check on a Pointe-Claire property, on top of the house: what is tarped or stacked, how far from the walls, and how long it has been there. Moving a stack two metres off the wall costs nothing and genuinely changes things.
The rest of the town behaves normally. The village by the lake has older buildings and big trees, so carpenter ants; the post-war streets to the north have the usual suburban entry points; and the commercial strip along the highway has its own rodent pressure, which stays on the commercial side.
Mice
The number one pest in Pointe-Claire, and the one where storage decides everything. Call a pest exterminator for mice early rather than late: one mouse in October is a family in January.
What you see: droppings along a baseboard, the size of a grain of rice, then scratching in a wall around dusk. Outside, droppings on a cover or inside a deck box when you open it.
Why Pointe-Claire: a mouse fits through a gap the width of a pencil. Hardened weatherstripping at the attached garage door is our number one entry point, then the dryer vent. But the reserve is outdoors, in whatever has been tarped against the wall since autumn.
What fixes it: closing the entries and moving storage away from the walls. You get the list in writing.
From $409 in a unit, $429 for a house. Perimeter control, better done in September than in May, is $299.
Carpenter Ants
A carpenter ant exterminator looks for water before looking for ants. They do not eat wood, they hollow out damp wood to nest in.
What you see: big black ants indoors, sawdust under a window or a deck, and a swarm in May. Winged ants mean an established colony, not scouts.
Why Pointe-Claire: the village and the waterfront streets have older buildings and big trees, and being near the lake keeps outdoor wood damp longer. A wooden deck or dock is a ready-made nest.
What fixes it: treating the colony and fixing the moisture, finding the source outdoors before treating indoors.
Indoor from $399, $399 for a house. Outdoors, $129 for one visit or $327 for three.
Wasps
What you see: steady traffic at one point: a soffit, the corner of a shed, a hole in the lawn. The nest is bigger than its entrance suggests.
Why Pointe-Claire: calls peak in August. The lots are large, and storage matters here too: a nest inside a tarped boat or under a patio cover gets found when you open it, which is the worst way to find one.
What fixes it: do not touch it yourself, and open a cover carefully in August. A disturbed nest fights back.
One nest is $189, a full treatment is $259.
Bed Bugs, Cockroaches and Silverfish
A bed bug exterminator is called after travel or after something was carried in. They live for months without feeding, so the second visit is not optional. From $429, up to $549 for a 10 ½, and $469 for a house.
An exterminator for cockroaches sees few cases on the house streets, where roaches arrive in cardboard and stay put. In an apartment block or a restaurant on the commercial strip they move through plumbing stacks, so an exterminator for roaches covers the neighbouring units. From $429 in a unit, $499 for a restaurant.
Silverfish and spiders follow moisture, and being near the lake keeps basements damp late in the season. From $399, $399 for a house.

When Pointe-Claire Pests Show Up, Month by Month
- March to May. Uncovering season. This is when you find out what wintered under a tarp, and it is too late to prevent it. Carpenter ants swarm in May.
- June to August. Wasps peak in August, including inside whatever stayed covered.
- September to November. The month that counts. The first cold nights push mice indoors and into storage at the same time, so the perimeter gets done before you cover things, not after.
- December to February. Quiet outside, busy inside: whatever came in during the fall breeds in a heated wall.
Why Call Us Instead of Someone Else
- The price before the visit. Not a range: the number published on this page.
- We look at what is stored. And we tell you what to move, which costs nothing.
- Unmarked vans. No logo on the vehicles or the clothing.
- Follow-up is included. If it comes back inside the warranty, so do we, at no cost.
- Approved products. Registered for occupied homes, and no incident reported to the Quebec Poison Control Centre in 14 years.

Questions from Pointe-Claire Residents
I found a mouse nest in my boat in the spring. What should I do?
First, do not clean it up dry: dampen the area with a disinfectant before removing anything, wear gloves, and ventilate. Sweeping dry droppings puts particles into the air, which is what you want to avoid. Then check the wiring and the upholstery, because the gnawing is the real cost and a treatment does not repair it. For next year the useful step is in September: perimeter control before you store anything, at $299, and covers kept away from the walls.
When should I call an exterminator?
As soon as the signs repeat: noises several nights running, droppings you keep finding in the same place, sawdust under the same window. In Pointe-Claire there is a second good moment, and it is September: before the boat gets tarped and the patio furniture gets stacked, rather than in spring when the damage is already done.
How much does a mouse exterminator cost?
$409 in a 4 ½ and $429 for a house, inspection included. Perimeter control is $299, and that is the one that matters here: it covers the outside of the building and what is stored against the walls.
Do the shed and the garage need treating too?
The attached garage, yes, every time: it shares a wall with the house, so what gets in there is already in the building, and it is included. A detached shed or a boat is different: we inspect them and tell you what we find, but the real lever there is moving them away from the walls and opening them occasionally over winter rather than treating them.
How do I choose an exterminator?
Licensed technicians, liability insurance, and a written warranty with the follow-up inside it rather than billed separately. Then three questions: is the price given before the visit or after the inspection? Does the quote cover the treatment or only the inspection? And what happens if it comes back inside the warranty?
Do you handle raccoons and skunks?
No. We do not trap or relocate wildlife: no raccoons, skunks, squirrels, groundhogs, birds or bats. The lakeshore and the large lots attract them, and it needs a licensed wildlife specialist. We treat mice, rats and insects.
The prices shown are estimates for the most common cases and can change without notice. We do our best to keep them current. Your final price depends on what the technician finds on site: how far the infestation has spread, how easy the affected areas are to reach, the condition of the property, and how many visits the job needs. You always get the exact price before any work starts.
